MB-Boot.exe and MBConfig.exe are copyright 1992 by Fred Freel & Micro-Bytes\Wordware All rights are reserved. MBConfig is a stand-alone QuickBasic program that can be run from DOS or Windows. When run in the Windows environment it is called automatically by MB-Boot, a Visual Basic Windows application. MB-Boot includes viewing and editing capabilities that are not provided in MBConfig. The VBRUN100.DLL Visual Basic run-time module must be install in your Windows directory for the program to function. Installation: If you run the MBINSTAL.BAT program in this file, a Boot_Rec directory will be created in the root of drive C:, and the files will be copied there. You will have to delete the files that you've unzipped in your current directory. Once you have the files in a dedicated directory, and have Windows running: Open the File Manager, and reduce it to a size that will allow the Program Manager viewable at the same time. Open a window in the Program Manager where you would like MB-Boot to reside. With the files in the Boot_Rec directory visible in the File Manager, and the open window visible in the Program Manager, click on the file MB-Boot.exe. Holding the mouse button down, drag the MB-Boot.exe file into the open Program Manager window. MB-Boot is now pathed to, as far as windows is concerned. However, you must click on the MB-Boot icon and check it's properties in the Program Manager File window. It's "working directory" should be C:\boot_rec. Running from DOS: If some of your configurations are outside of Windows, as ours are, you may change your current directory to C:\boot_rec, and run the MBConfig program. The syntax is; MBCONFIG [configuration]. Configuration is the number extension of the pair of configuration files you want to make active. If you don't recall the extension of the files you want to use, entering MBCONFIG by itself will give you a list of the configurations. Identifying Configurations: The configurations we've supplied are only for use as examples. You will have to edit them to correspond to your needs. The first line of each should have a REM line describing the contents of the configuration file. The REM line is read by both MBConfig and MB-Boot for identification purposes. Please read the "help" menu in the "About" window.
